I've suffered from insomnia since high school. I would stay up late studying and obsessing about my homework and find it impossible to turn my mind off. As I became an adult, worries about my career, balancing my checkbook in my head, wondering if as a mom am I doing it right by my kids.... it's really hard for me to wind down. I've tried lots of things like Melatonin and other supplements, even medications and while sometimes they can help me fall asleep, I feel so groggy and unrested the next day. So now, I brew a cup of Deep Sleep an hour or so before I go to bed. I'm going to be honest, I often can't even finish the cup before I'm climbing in bed. It somehow dulls the noise in my head and not only helps me fall asleep, I don't feel sluggish the next morning. Not sure what's in that magic sleep potion, but I full on expect to find the Seven Dwarfs and Prince Charming watching me sleep. Just remember the cardinal rule, never wake a sleeping baby or an insomniac mother!

I'm a widowed single mom, and sometimes Valentine's Day gets me a little down. I know better than to expect my children or anyone else to fill that void on this Hallmark holiday... so I've taken matters into my own hands. I go get a pedicure, buy a bunch of roses at Trader Joe's, take a long bath, watch a sappy rom com and brew a cup of Chocolate-Covered Strawberries tea. Shhh... don't tell anyone but my I love being my own Valentine and try to celebrate a little self-love at least once a month.
