Homemade Elderberry Syrup Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 Elderberry Syrup Kit
- 3 cups of water
- 1 cup of honey
Instructions:
-
Begin by opening the elderberry syrup kit.
-
In a medium-sized saucepan, bring the 3 cups of water to a boil.
-
Once the water is boiling, carefully add the herbs from the elderberry syrup kit to the saucepan. Boil until the water is reduced by half. Usually about 30-45 minutes.
-
After steeping, remove the saucepan from heat and allow the herbal infusion to cool to room temperature.
-
Once the herbal infusion is at room temperature, strain it to remove the herbs. You can use a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth for this.
-
Measure 1 cup of honey and add it to the strained herbal infusion. Stir well until the honey is completely dissolved.
-
Your elderberry syrup is now ready! Transfer it to a clean glass jar or bottle with a tight-sealing lid. Make sure the container is clean and dry to prevent spoilage.
-
Store your homemade elderberry syrup in the refrigerator for up to a few weeks. It’s recommended to take 1-2 tablespoons daily during cold and flu season or when you feel the need to boost your immune system.
Remember to consult with a healthcare professional if you have any health concerns or medical conditions before using herbal remedies. Elderberry syrup is often used to support the immune system, but it may not be suitable for everyone. Enjoy your homemade elderberry syrup and stay healthy!
